OGDCL: Discovery of Gas Condensate at Well Metlo-1


In a recent notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, OGDCL has announced the discovery of a gas condensate at Well Metlo 01 which is located in District Khairpur, Sindh Province.

The discovery of the Gas condensate is a Joint venture of Ranipur block comprising of:

  • Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) as operator – 95%
  • Government Holdings (Pvt) Ltd (GHPL) – 2.5%
  • Sindh Energy Holding Company (Pvt) Ltd (SEHCL) – 2.5%

The Metlo-1 was spud on the November 17, 2019 and reached a depth of 1504 meter inside Uper Goru Formation. The well has tested the 1.85 Mn cubic fee per day of gas, 6 barrels per day of condensate and 38 barrels per day of water  through 32/64” choke at well head flowing pressure of 285 pounds per square Inch.

This discovery is the result of aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the company. It will be added to the hydrocarbon reserves of OGDCL, GHPL, SEHCL and of the country.

Furthermore, this will contribute in reducing the gap between the demand and supply of oil and gas in the country.
