Shahid Khaqan Abbasi viewed the signing ceremony of Deed of Assignment of 25% participating Interest Offshore Indus (Block 2265-1) on 28th May, 2018.
The Deed was implemented among the Directorate General Petroleum Concession, Ministry of Energy- Petroleum Division, GHPL, Eni Pakistan Ltd (8.34%), Exxon Mobil Exploration and Production Pakistan BV, OGDCL (8.33%) and PPL (8.33%) to forcefully transfer the Participating Interest.
Offshore is considered as most auspicious block (Block 2265-1) in Pakistan. Plan of deep explorations have been decided to be implemented in the first quarter of 2019 in the Block for which the provisions are in process. This exploration process would change the Energy landscape of Pakistan.
This assignment is significant in the way, that it is an ongoing process of incremental interest from Major Oil Companies in Pakistan Offshore Exploration with Eni, along the reassurance of its long-lasting commitments to Pakistan and ExxonMobil returning to Pakistan after 33 years.
The Joint Venture is directed by Eni Pakistan Ltd (Operator), a subordinate of Eni SpA, and a leading energy company.
The signing ceremony was detained at Prime Minister’s Office and it was attended by by Additional Secretary Petroleum Division, the Italian Ambassador, US Deputy Chief of Mission and senior executives of the companies.
